Lisa Bucknell | VIOLA

Lisa enjoys a varied career as a guest artist with chamber ensembles and orchestras throughout the UK and abroad. As a chamber musician, she has collaborated with the Sacconi Quartet and Manchester Collective, is the principal solo violist for The Opera Story, and performed in the Alan Bennett play Untold Stories at the National Theatre and on the West End. Lisa has enjoyed trials with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and performs regularly with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Lisa holds both an Artist Diploma and a Master of Performance with Distinction from the Royal College of Music under the tutelage of Simon Rowland-Jones. During this time, she was a competitor in the 2016 Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition, a prizewinner at the North London Festival of Music, and a finalist in the Kenneth Loveland and Brian Boak Outstanding Performer Awards. A firm believer that education is never complete, Lisa has been fortunate to enjoy lessons with many leading violists around the world and has had master classes with luminaries including Thomas Reibl, Nobuko Imai, and Antoine Tamestit.
Lisa is very grateful for the support of the Richard Carne Trust, the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, the Tait Memorial Trust, and the Clemence Charitable Trust. Lisa currently plays a 1930 Natale Carletti viola thanks to the generosity of donors worldwide who contributed to her fundraising campaign.
